When betting is spread across apps, no single account ever looks that bad. Shutting them down one by one is how you finally see the whole picture. Kalshi is a federally regulated prediction market, so your state doesn't oversee it. State self-exclusion lists don't cover it, so you have to block it separately even if you've already excluded from every sportsbook.

Menus change with almost every app update. If you can't find a setting, open support chat and type exactly what you want, like "close my account" or "self-exclude me."

How to close your Kalshi account

1. Cancel any open orders and close out your positions.
2. Withdraw your balance.
3. Email support@kalshi.com with your account email, full name and date of birth and ask to close your account.

You can't sell positions during a trading break or self-exclusion, so close them first.

Closing vs. self-excluding from Kalshi

A closed account can usually be reopened. Self-exclusion usually can't be undone early. When you're quitting, the one that's hard to undo is the one you want.

Contracts are still bets

Kalshi calls them contracts or trades, but if you're putting money on who wins a game, it hits the same way a bet does. If you're quitting, Kalshi goes too. Is Kalshi gambling?

Take a break from Kalshi

• Trading Break: A day or more, under Responsible Risk Management in your settings. It can't be lifted early.

Self-exclude from Kalshi

• Voluntary self-exclusion: For a set term, under Responsible Risk Management. It can't be lifted until it ends.
• SelfExclude.io: A shared self-exclusion service for prediction markets, live on Kalshi, for 1 to 12 months. It can be extended but not shortened.

Because Kalshi is a prediction market, your state's sportsbook self-exclusion list may not cover it. Exclude on Kalshi directly, and on any similar apps you use.

Set limits on Kalshi

A monthly deposit limit under Responsible Risk Management. Set a limit if you want a speed bump. If what you want is a wall, that's self-exclusion.

Cut Kalshi off from your money

• Delete the Kalshi app and sign out on every device.
• Install a blocker. BetBlocker is free and can be locked for up to five years. More options are in how to block sports betting apps.
• Ask your bank whether it can block gambling transactions on your cards.
• Stop the marketing. Use the unsubscribe link in emails.

Stop Kalshi VIP hosts, rewards and offers

If anyone from Kalshi contacts you personally with bonuses or offers, treat it like a VIP host.

To make it stop, self-exclude, then email Kalshi support asking to be removed from any VIP program, rewards, marketing and texts, and keep a copy.
