The worst moments usually come late at night, when it's just you and your phone. Every account you shut down is one less place to bet when that moment shows up. DraftKings Sportsbook, Casino, daily fantasy and Pick6 share one login and one wallet, so closing or excluding usually touches more than just sports bets.

If a button isn't where we say it is, the app probably moved it. Support chat can do every step below if you ask for it by name.

How to close your DraftKings account

  1. Withdraw your balance and let any open bets settle.
  2. In the app or on the site, open your account and go to Responsible Gaming (some versions put closing under Account Information, then Login & Security).
  3. Choose Close Account, give a reason and confirm.
  4. If you can't find it, contact DraftKings support by chat at support.draftkings.com and ask them to close the account.

Guides report that a standard closure can be reopened later. If you want it to stick, self-exclusion is the stronger move.

Closing vs. self-excluding from DraftKings

If you only close the account, getting back in is usually one chat away. Self-exclusion is built to hold even when you ask nicely, which is exactly why it works.

Why DraftKings will try to win you back

Sportsbooks spend heavily on getting people back with promos, bonus bets and texts from hosts. Expect it, and decide ahead of time that every offer goes straight to the trash. Why bonus bets aren't free money.

Take a break from DraftKings

  • Cool-off: A break from betting for a set number of days. Recent reports say DraftKings now offers custom cool-offs from 3 to 364 days.

Self-exclude from DraftKings

  • Self-exclusion: DraftKings offers self-exclusion for 1 or 5 years. In Pennsylvania, you self-exclude through the state instead of the app.

DraftKings is state-licensed, so your state's self-exclusion program covers it, along with every other licensed sportsbook in your state. How state self-exclusion works, and your state guide has the sign-up steps.

Set limits on DraftKings

Deposit, loss and time limits by day, week or month, under Responsible Gaming in your account. Limits are for cutting back. They tend to fail at exactly the moment you're chasing, so if you're done, self-exclude and use limits only as a backup.

Block DraftKings on your phone and cards

Deleting the app is step one. Sign out everywhere, then put a blocker on your phone so it can't come back on a bad night. BetBlocker is free and can be locked for years, and this guide covers the rest.

Then take your cards off the account and ask your bank about blocking gambling charges. To stop the emails and texts: Use the unsubscribe link in emails, update Communication Settings in your account, or email privacy@draftkings.com.

Stop DraftKings VIP hosts, rewards and offers

DraftKings's rewards program is DraftKings Rewards (formerly Dynasty Rewards). DraftKings also runs a VIP program with personal VIP reps. A 2026 ProPublica investigation found a rep offered bonus money less than a week after the reporter's cool-off ended.

Self-exclusion is the cleanest way to end it. After that, send DraftKings support one email asking to be taken off every rewards and VIP list, and save it. Any offer that shows up after you self-exclude is worth reporting to your state regulator. How to get VIP hosts to leave you alone.

What about your data?

Closing the account isn't the same as deleting your data. Data deletion is a separate privacy request, and gaming records are often kept for years by law.

Close the rest too

Closing DraftKings helps. The other apps are still one tap away, so shut those down too:
