  • English and Spanish

Why chapters need sports betting and gambling prevention

A 2025 University of Mississippi study found gambling was more common among students in Greek life, and that sports bettors were more likely to be Greek life members. An earlier study of fraternity members found the highest rates of problem gambling among officers, younger members and members living with other members.

A shared house turns betting into something everyone does together: group parlays, pools, and sometimes a house bookie running bets on credit.

FAQ

Can a national organization license every chapter at once?

Yes. One join code can cover a chapter, a campus council or a national organization, and completion can be checked as a list.

Does the chapter see who is struggling?

No. The recovery tools are private, and reports show totals only.

Can this go into our risk management program?

Yes. Many chapters add it to new member education and officer training.
